Hull Truck Theatre is renowned for its up-front
productions. Work from established writers John
Godber, Gordon Steel and Nick Lane is integrated
with the results of a long-standing policy of encouraging
new writers.
Hull Truck has a unique appeal and a very diverse
audience profile. Brain surgeons, taxi drivers,
barristers and bricklayers sit together to enjoy
the very best in drama and comedy. John Godber
says that when he joined Hull Truck in 1984 “...I
had a passion to put on plays that would speak
to an audience who had perhaps forgotten how exciting
theatre could be”.
The audiences certainly know how exciting it
can be now. The skills of Hull Truck’s directors
and production team regularly supply a heady mix
of visually challenging and thought provoking entertainment.
